The Abba Project

Investing in the Future

At Givens Charities Inc., we believe in the 21st-century evolution of a classic principle: don’t just give a man a fish—teach him how to fish so he may eat for a lifetime. The Abba Project is our commitment to breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness through strategic investment in individual lives.

Our Philosophy: The 6 P’s

Rooted in lessons learned from the United States Marine Corps, our approach is guided by a simple mantra:

Proper, Prior, Planning, Prevents, Poor, Performance.

By properly planning our process and progress toward a stated objective, we ensure an ideal outcome for every participant.

Our Promise

We provide a service station within local municipalities where young people can find the tools they need to change their impoverished circumstances. In our environment, every pupil is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of race, creed, color, religion, or sexual orientation.

“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.” — Proverbs 19:17

California Youth Camps (CYC)

The core of our project is the California Youth Camps, a training facilitation designed as a “hand up” for disadvantaged citizens. We provide exposure to the vast opportunities available to the citizenry of the United States through a structured curriculum:

  • Community Orientation: Building discipline through close order drill and physical fitness.
  • Holistic Health: Focusing on hygiene, mental health, and physical conditioning.
  • Technical Skills: Training in basic data processing techniques.
  • Future Planning: Educational preparedness, goal setting, and employment readiness.
  • Life Foundations: Financial literacy and home ownership strategies.

Who We Serve: Our Priority Pupils

We are dedicated to empowering those at a critical crossroads in their lives:

  • Foster Youth: Supporting young adults aging out of the system.
  • At-Risk Youth: Engaging those who have struggled with behavior inconsistent with healthy community living.
  • The Underserved: Re-igniting hope for pupils who feel a higher or technical education is out of reach.

Collaboration & Community

This project is built on the foundation of expert facilitation and community support. We seek to partner with entities that share our vision for progress, including:

  • Educational Institutions: Such as Mira Costa College, Palomar College, and the Oceanside Unified School District.
  • Community Organizations: Including the Salvation Army and local churches of all types.
  • Sponsorships: We are seeking a $1 Million government sponsor to fund each site and bring this vision to life.
